The UPSC Civil Services Examination 2011 was a major turning point in the history of the exam, as it marked the introduction of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) in the Preliminary stage. This change significantly restructured the evaluation process of the first stage of the exam.

Major Change in Prelims – CSAT Introduced

From 2011 onward, the Prelims exam format changed to include two compulsory papers of objective type:

1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims – New Pattern):
