Karmapa’s travel curbs to go

Urgyen Trinley Dorje, the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, may be allowed to visit any place in the country, except Sikkim, without seeking the government’s permission. The Home Ministry has moved the proposal before the Cabinet Committee on Security, a senior government official said here on Tuesday.
  • The move assumes significance in the wake of China’s repeated warnings over the recent Northeast visit of the Dalai Lama, who Beijing describes as a “separatist” for spearheading the Tibetan freedom movement.

Modi to honour 16 Odisha families linked to 1817 revolt

Descendants of 16 families associated with a little-known but bloody rebellion against British colonialism, called the Paika rebellion of 1817 will be felicitated by the Prime Minister.


About Paika rebellion:
Two-hundred years ago in 1817, a valiant uprising of soldiers led by Buxi Jagabandhu (Bidyadhar Mohapatra) took place in Khurda of Odisha. This is known as Paika rebellion.

Swachagraha-Bapu Ko Karyanjali exhibition

To mark the 100-year anniversary of Satyagrah movement, led by Mahatma Gandhi, an exhibition ”swachagraha” Bapu Ko Karyanjali” – A Mission, An Exhibition, at the National Archives of India, was recently inaugurated.

November 26 Celebrated as Constitution day

The Government has decided to observe 26th November as 'Constitution Day From 2015 onwards  to honour our Constitution and its promulgation.On the day in 1949, the constitution was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.  The year 2015, the country is celebrating 125th birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

World Philosophy Day : November 17, 2016

World Philosophy Day was introduced in November 21, 2002 by UNESCO to honour philosophical reflection in the entire world by opening up free and accessible spaces. The General Conference of UNESCO established World Philosophy Day in 2005. 
World Philosophy Day celebrated every third Thursday of the November.
