Airports to be ranked on passenger feedback
Airports’ economic regulator putting in place a new system to monitor the ground operations and service standards by introducing Ranks to airports based on Passenger feedback.
The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority regulator will rate airports based on parameters such as:

  1. Cost efficiency,
  2. Entry time,
  3. Security clearance,
  4. Check-in and
  5. Boarding facility, among other services at airports.

A critical component of the rating would be passenger feedback.
Airports Economic Regulatory Authority :
  • The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) that came into existence in 2008
  • It has so far been focused on its responsibility of setting airport tariffs
  • It will now assess their performance on the ground for 16 major airports as well.


ECIL product to assist international project:
Electronics Corporation of India shipped two ultra stable power converters to Germany for use in Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research.
Details:
The power converters will in turn help scientists at the facility, commonly referred by its acronym FAIR, produce high energy precision beams of subatomic particles and bend them besides accelerating them to speeds nearing that of light for use in various particle physics experiments.
  • ECIL has been tasked with fabricating 600 power converters.
  • ECIL will deliver rest of the converters by 2019.

DRDO agreement with IIT-Bombay and Madras:
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) signed an agreement with IIT-Bombay and Madras to establish a bi-nodal ‘Centre of Propulsion Technology’ (CoPT) at the two institutions.
Details:
  • The initiative is aimed at achieving synergy between DRDO and Indian Institutes of Technology for channelising the research efforts towards developing products and related critical aerospace technologies

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed among DG DRDO S Christopher, IIT Bombay Director Prof Devang Khakhar and IIT Madras Director Prof B Ramamurthi
